Kumar Sharma's Story of His Journey To Hotel Empire Leader

I am pictured with Kumar Sharma, who came to the United States from India 24 years ago with $42 and an agricultural worker's visa.
Sharma, 53, found one of his first American jobs in the vineyards of Napa. He worked his way up through Sacramento mini-marts, liquor stores and food markets, first as a clerk, then as an owner. His hotel empire now includes seven properties.
He's turned the former Radisson on Highway 160 into a gathering place for many of the region's 50,000 Indo Americans, whose population has more than doubled in the past decade.
The hotel – which Sharma initially had renamed the Woodlake Hotel – officially became the Red Lion Hotel Woodlake Conference Center Sacramento last week. Sharma's Shri Vinayaka Hotel Inc. also announced the purchase of the Red Lion Hotel (Now The Clarion Hotel) near Arden Fair mall for $9 million.

Drawn to the source of world-impacting power like sojourners on a success-pilgrimage, business owners, entrepreneurs, professionals, celebrities and the media- all converged on that sacred place; ready to embrace the change that would come and to set a new course in motion. It was no coincidence that the official kick-off event for Successful Thinkers was held on November 6th in Sacramento, the capital of California- the state that historically has held the largest per capita income and was once touted as the 7th largest economy in the world.
Now, as the beautiful, trend-setting state struggles to maintain its budget and adapt to the newly imposed regulations that impact its very infrastructure, Californians daily face the harsh reality of furloughs, high unemployment rates, bankruptcies and foreclosures- head on. Yet, despite these contrary circumstances, there’s been a surge of positive energy; a mounting momentum that’s been building steadily with the coming of Successful Thinkers.
This powerful new phenomenon known as Successful Thinkers has re-ignited the spark of vision and desire in the hearts of business owners and success-minded individuals everywhere. Rather than waiting on the economy to a-right itself, Successful Thinkers is proactively helping correct the economy from within by benefitting society’s most valued asset- the business owner.
Through the use of multi-media, social networking, live Meetups, master-mind groups and personal mentoring; Successful Thinkers empowers business owners to be on the cutting-edge of technology trends that are currently impacting the way business is conducted. By equipping business owners to ride the trend rather than be run-over or passed up by it; Successful Thinkers is ideally positioned to help revitalize and kick-start the economy back into progressive motion again.
Though the event was marked by a sense of divine appointment and synergized with an endowment of positive energy, it was in every sense of the word, a business event. Still, the Successful Thinkers’ inaugural celebration was held in Adventure Church; the largest, fully-functional and professional theater in Sacramento.
It served this purpose well for the event was highlighted by keynote speakers such as Rudy Ruetigger, Jim Bellacera, Wes Beavis , Silas King, Josh DeLaney, Steve Airola, Nick Lynch, Hal Elrod, and the tech-savvy, drum-rolling duo; Robert Velarde and Dave Malby. In addition, there was a humorous, double-take of Chris Lombardo in a video interview with “The Expert” for teaching the proper way to promote oneself over the Internet.
Then, we were entertained and amazed by the dynamic, energized production put on by Pepper Von and his theatrical team; complete with dancing, music, synchronization, singing and incredibly moving performances. Their Broadway-worthy production was the perfect introduction for Rudy Ruetigger, our keynote speaker. As the inspiration behind the movie, “Rudy”; Rudy shared his heart-felt inspiring story, his down-to-earth wisdom and excerpts of his personal life that identified with the audience and helped rekindle the “spark” in their lives!
